about

Hello!

Thank you for visiting our Bandcamp page and for buying our new single! For me, Up Up and Away is more than just song. It's a melodic representation of a milestone in my life.

In 2016 I traveled to Colombia for what would become the most emotional and meaningful week of my life. I met my birth mother. She's a beautiful and kind beam of light and we spent a week together sharing stories, music, and a lot of mango juice.

I wrote this song for her. I don't normally write songs that have happy or uplifting lyrics - it comes with the cliche territory of being an emotional singer song writer I suppose - but this song is filled with nothing but hope and love. I originally wasn't going to share it with anyone. It was going to be just for my mom and I. However once I got the final mix back I knew it was too good not to share.

A huge shout out to my brother Evan Captain. While he's not biologically my brother, (I get that using the word "brother" may be confusing in this context ), this song would not have existed without him. From helping me write the music, to playing lead guitar on the track, to being there for me with love and support through this entire experience - he's been everything I could ask for in a brother. Love ya.

All the proceeds will go directly to WACAP (World Association for Children and Parents). This is the agency that my parents adopted me through.

Ok, this message is getting long. May The Force be with you and I hope you enjoy the song!
